The Spaces Between
This piece is based on the idea of an enclosure.
With the word enclosure comes the connotation of being trapped. It suggests that it is without choice. When I think of an enclosure, a crawl space in my attic comes to mind. Its tight, abrupt turns and corners cause the space to be one of distress and conflict.
In my work, I use these turns, corners and hard brick to explore the feelings that accompany the experience of being in an enclosure, and more specifically within the crawl space.
